The Don is derived from the latin “Donus Maximus”; translated to “the winner, the shit, the dogs bollocks, the fuckin daddy”… The Don is basically regarded as the better man. He who is Don, owns the world sort of thing!

In our world, and thus, this site, the competition between us; it’s the guy who wins 3 games in a row (albeit Golf, Football, WordsWithFriends etc.)

It actually started with International Superstar Soccer on the original Playstation waaaay back in the early nineties. The venue, Mark’s parents garage. The objective, see who’s the better player. The conclusion… hard to say without referring to the “Calendars of Truth” which have not been maintained cos we’re lazy like that. We’re closely matched in Golf and Football skills so it’s always a close game! Basically I want to beat him at everything and he wants to beat me at everything!

Since the dawn of mankind, humans have been competing with each other over things such as food, resources, and mates. Often, this competitive drive built into us has caused humans to go to war with one another—killing each other in the process. In the modern era, competition has been significantly tempered in its lethality. Rarely does a conflict arise between two people where the end result is a dead body lying on the ground although we’ve come close.

Competition is a natural aspect of human behavior, especially between mates. It helps us survive in a relatively cruel world. Plus we like getting one better over each other :)
